Heart & Stroke Foundation

CPR/AED Level C

VIVICPR delivers the CPR AED training course through the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The course teaches you to recognize cardiac arrest, quickly get emergency personnel on the scene, and provide help until emergency medical services (EMS) arrive. Skills covered include relief of choking and recognizing and responding to sudden cardiac arrest in adults, children and infants.

Delivered through the Heart & Stroke Foundation. This course meets work requirements for Ontario WSIB and includes the latest CPR guidelines. Certification is valid in Ontario for 3 years.

What this course covers

Instructors use presentations and skills demonstrations to teach critical skills and provide hands-on practice sessions. Participants receive coaching and feedback to facilitate their learning experience in a fun, engaging and dynamic environment.

The CPR certification training courses were developed in accordance with the recommendations from the International First Aid and Resuscitation Guidelines. This course meets work requirements for Ontario/territorial worker safety and insurance boards (WSIB) and includes the latest CPR guidelines.

Intended audience

This course is for anyone who wants basic CPR and AED training for workplace safety — including those caring for elderly, children and infants such as family members, child care workers, babysitters, security guards and other personnel providing in-home care.

It also meets Ontario WSIB workplace requirements for staff who need CPR/AED Level C certification.

Hands-on practice with coaching and feedback from a certified instructor.
Method of delivery

Two ways to take CPR/AED

Choose the format that fits your schedule. Both options are led through the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Blended

Online + in-class skills

Complete the online CPR portion at your own pace, followed by an in-class hands-on skills session with a Heart & Stroke Instructor.

Blended CPR with AED takes approximately 5 hours total, including skills practice and testing; 2 hours online and 3 hours in class.
Online training time varies depending on the learner.
In-person skills check with a certified Heart & Stroke Instructor.
3-year CPR/AED completion card on successful completion.

Classroom

Fully instructor-led

Learn with a Heart & Stroke Instructor for the entire experience, including demonstrations, practice and feedback in class.

In-classroom CPR with AED takes approximately 3 hours, including skills practice and testing.
Instructor present for the full course with live presentations and skills demonstrations.
Hands-on CPR and AED practice with real-time coaching and feedback.
3-year CPR/AED completion card on successful completion.

What you will be able to do

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

Describe and demonstrate how to help a conscious and an unconscious victim with an obstructed airway.
Recognize the signs and symptoms of heart attack and stroke.
Describe and demonstrate how to control bleeding and bandaging.
Recognize the signs and symptoms of shock.
Describe how to minimize the risk of shock.
Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival.
Recognize when someone needs CPR.
Demonstrate high-quality CPR for an adult, child and infant.
Describe how to perform two-rescuer CPR.
Demonstrate how to give rescue breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups.
Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult, child and infant.

Course completion card

Upon successful completion of this course, students receive a CPR with AED certificate (digital certificate) and a CPR with AED course completion card that is valid in Ontario for 3 years.

VIVICPR delivers this course through the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The completion card is issued by the Heart & Stroke Foundation and is valid in Ontario for 3 years.

CPR/AED Level C

Full CPR and AED certification for adults, children and infants. Choose blended or in-classroom delivery. Meets Ontario WSIB workplace requirements and follows the latest CPR guidelines.

Re-certification CPR/AED Level C

For holders of a current CPR/AED Level C card who need to recertify. Confirm renewal eligibility before booking.
