Online + In-class

Get the best of both worlds

Blended learning combines the strengths of online and in-person classroom training. It teaches the same curriculum as an instructor-led, in-person course, but divides the experience into a self-paced online component and a classroom-based skills session — so you get the education you need, when you need it.

How it works

Two phases, one complete course

Blended learning teaches the same curriculum as an instructor-led, in-person course, but divides the experience into two parts.

Phase 2

Self-paced e-learning

A self-paced, online cognitive learning and assessment program you complete on your own schedule, anywhere with an internet connection.

Phase 2

Classroom skills session

After finishing the online component, students progress to a classroom-based skills session with a certified instructor to practice and demonstrate hands-on skills.

The flexibility of our programs means we have options for everyone — including fully in-person training. Whether you choose a blended CPR and first aid course, a first aid blended course, or classroom delivery, the curriculum and certification are the same.
Why blended learning

Flexibility, convenience, consistency, quality

Flexibility

Learn at your own pace and on your own schedule, anywhere and anytime.
The online component is fully self-directed, which leads to increased satisfaction.
Navigation controls let you move easily through content and customize your personal learning experience.

Convenience

Blended first aid courses significantly reduce classroom training time — often by half.
Complete the online portion at home or on the go with your preferred device, desktop or tablet.
Only the hands-on skills need to be completed in person.

Consistency

Research shows blended courses provide more consistency in learning and ensure all topics are covered to help increase survival.
Delivery of course material is consistent across all groups of training.

Quality of training

Instructors focus on skills practice and testing for CPR and other psychomotor skills to ensure participants can perform in real-life situations.

General FAQs

FAQs about blended courses

Students are required to watch at least 90% of a video in a lesson before progressing to the next lesson. For example, if you watch the first 20 seconds and the last 50 seconds of a 100-second video, you will not be able to continue because you have only completed 70% of the video. Additionally, if you change the playback speed of your video (1.5x, 2x), the system does not register that you completed the module and you will have to watch it again at regular speed.
Blended courses combine the flexibility of online learning with the hands-on experience of in-class training. You complete the theory portion online at your own pace, followed by an in-person session to practice and demonstrate skills with a certified instructor. After completing your registration, you will receive access shortly after the registration process is complete. You will receive an email with your login information. If you did not receive access, check your junk folder; otherwise, please wait until we register your information and send you a "Take Action" email.
The system will automatically save your progress. You can stop and resume your learning anytime.
Yes, you will have access to all the information in the online course even after you have finished your training, to help reinforce what you have learned.
Yes, you can access your course 24/7 from any computer or tablet device that has an internet connection.
You cannot fail the online portion, since there is no limit to the number of times you can take each module. Each module has a test; if you do not pass, you will be asked to review the module again and then you can re-challenge the test. You cannot move on to a new module until you have successfully completed the module test. However, it is possible to be unsuccessful in the classroom component.
Yes, please bring the online course certificate of completion with you to the in-class component of the blended course.
Contact us directly at support@vivicpr.ca or call (647) 948-9662 with any technical issues. If you have not received the access key to the eLearning portal, please contact us by phone or email.
